Mobile Park was the site of a tense game between the Providence Anglers and Mobile Monsters.
The Mobile Monsters rode a solid performance from 26-year-old starting pitcher Carl Lendon to a win, beating the Providence Anglers, 3-2, at Mobile Park. Lendon yielded 2 runs over 5 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 1, and struck out 1. His record improves to 2-3.
In the bottom of the 5th, Mobile took the lead on a 2-run single by Jon Olson. At the time, the Monsters were trailing 2-1, but Olson's hit with two outs against Providence pitcher Seon-jong Kim put them in front, 3-2.
Lendon said his team "played with focus and determination."
By defeating Providence, the third-place Monsters improved to 12-14.
