Stars Deal Aurora 6-1 Defeat
The Los Angeles Stars downed the Iceland Aurora, 6-1, at Aurora Field. Stellar pitching by Brandon Lanning had a lot to do with it. The right-hander, who is tied for 10th in the TOBA with a 3.35 ERA, handcuffed his opponent all game. The winning pitcher was Lanning, now 2-2. He tossed 8.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 4 and fanning 3. The Stars, now 18-8, know that wins in June count the same as wins in September.

Jorge Lopez, who is tied for 10th in the TOBA in doubles with 6, helped out the Los Angeles cause in the top of the eighth inning with a run-scoring sacrifice fly. For the game, the third baseman went 1-2.

"Pleased with the effort and the win," said Stars manager Dan Danielson.
