Skyliners Hand Mafia 5-1 Loss
|
Eddie Johnson, who is tied for 9th in the TOBA with a 4.8 K/9 rate, never let the Mafia get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his splitter, to pitch the Skyliners to a win, 5-1. The loss makes Sicily 11-16.
New York relied on the bat of Tomokazu Noguchi to get the win. The right fielder ripped a 2-run triple in the top of the fifth inning to put the Skyliners ahead, 2-1. For the game, Noguchi had 1 double and 1 triple in 4 at-bats.
"That's how you're going to be successful," said Skyliners manager Dan Danielson. "It starts with pitching and it will always be pitching."
