Lions Pin 6-2 Loss on Newfoundland
|
The Paris Lions picked up a win at Newfoundland Stadium, taking down the Newfoundland Labradors, 6-2. Starting pitcher Stephen Anderson was a big reason why. Anderson, the winner, moves to 2-4. He threw 7.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up 3 walks. The win puts Paris at 11-16.
Jon Bertelson had a big 2-run double for the Lions in the top of the fourth inning. With Paris leading 1-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a cutter from Josh Harmon, who finished 5th in the TOBA in innings pitched with 165.0 in 1956, and swatted a double to left. It was his 4th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Lions ahead, 3-0.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Anderson said after the game.
