Skyliners Sneak Past Bears, 4-3
|
The New York Skyliners picked up a win at Skyliners Stadium, taking down the Berlin Bears, 4-3, in 10 innings. On the mound for New York was right-hander Eddie Johnson. He played a central role in the triumph. New York is now 19-9, while Berlin is 6-22.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the tenth inning, when New York center fielder Alfonso Salas, facing Zeleny Masata, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Skyliners the 4-3 win.
"I'm happy we won," said Johnson. "That's first and foremost. My goal is for the team to win the day I pitch, however it's done."
