The Providence Anglers downed the Newfoundland Labradors, 5-2, the largest share of the credit belonging to first baseman Wei-hong Shao. On the day, Shao went 2-4 with a home run and a double, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Anglers. Providence goes to 15-13, Newfoundland to 13-15.

With Providence trailing 2-0 in the bottom of the fifth, Shao hit a fastball from Lazar Telacevic for a grand slam home run. It was his 7th home run of the season and put the Anglers ahead, 4-2.

Providence manager Dan Danielson praised his team's "no BS approach."
