Aurora Lose By a Run at Mobile
|
Monsters catcher Loflinger Schneider left his mark on his team's 6-5 win over the Iceland Aurora. Schneider, the 6th overall pick in the 1952 draft, was 1-4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for Mobile in the contest. The winning pitcher was 23-year old left-handed pitcher Omar Cespedes. He tossed 134 pitches over 7.1 innings, allowing 5 runs on 10 hits. Scott Bradburn earned the save for Mobile.
In the bottom of the fourth, Mobile shortstop Steven Wright had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and one out, Wright stroked a 2-run single to center. It made the score 6-3, Mobile. For the game, he was 1-3 with a walk, while adding 2 RBI.
"I'm just trying to make good contact," said Schneider, "one at-bat at a time."
Iceland now has a record of 2-4.
