In a low-scoring tilt between the Sicily Mafia and the Lisbon Seafarers, Pippo Ammanati, who finished 4th in the TOBA in wins with 11 in 1952, was the difference-maker. The Sicily right-hander spearheaded the 3-2 win. Ammanati, the winner, moves to 7-7. He threw 8 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 3 and giving up 4 walks. Ceasario DeSanctis finished the game for Sicily and earned his 5th save.

Salvatorio Tartaglia came through with a big-time hit for Sicily. The designated hitter smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 3-2. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"Like I've always said, I'm the straw that stirs the drink," Ammanati said (again).

The Mafia raised their record to 18-30.
