Big Day for Takahashi in 5-3 Krakens Win
|
Toyokazu Takahashi was a major factor in the 5-3 Keiper win over New York. The Krakens third baseman was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Sebastien Mazzucato, now 1-0, was credited with the win in 0.2 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit, while striking out 1 and walking 0. David Grullon closed the door for Keiper, picking up his 11th save of the year.
Takahashi had a timely hit for Keiper in the top of the ninth. With Keiper trailing 3-0, he turned a 1-2 cutter into a grand slam home run. It was his 7th home run of the season, making it 4-3, Keiper.
"Winning never gets dull," said Takahashi.
The losing streak for New York has now reached 6 games.
