The Sicily Mafia and the Newfoundland Labradors played into extra innings before the winner was determined. The Mafia won it, 9-6, in 12 innings. In the game, Sicily designated hitter Salvatorio Tartaglia went 3-6 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3. Sicily reliever Remi Labraccio picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Norm Johnson took the loss. Sicily is now 22-22, Newfoundland 20-24.

Sicily used the timely hitting of Massimiliano Propenzicotti to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the 12th inning to put the Mafia on top, 8-6. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"Sometimes winning takes more than 27 outs," said Mafia manager Dan Danielson.
