The Mobile Monsters defeated the Lisbon Seafarers, 6-5, in part because of designated hitter Chris Weide. Weide went 1 for 1 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Monsters. Steve Schlachter was the winner in relief. His record is now 2-0. The losing pitcher was Ben Coleman. Mobile is now 30-33. Lisbon is 35-28.

The game was decided with two out in the bottom of the ninth. With Mobile trailing 5-3, Weide jumped on a splitter from 24-year old left-handed pitcher Ben Coleman and hit a 3-run home run to left-center. With one swing, the Monsters had a walk-off win.

"The fans went nuts at the end," Weide said.
