Newfoundland Labradors starter Mark Lapointe pitched his team past the Los Angeles Stars, 3-2. Lapointe, who is tied for 6th in the TOBA in complete games with 2, went the distance for Newfoundland. He gave up 2 runs on 4 hits. The Labradors improved their record to 24-25 with the win over Los Angeles.

Arso Nusic went 1 for 2 for Newfoundland. The 27-year old shortstop had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Ricky Camacho. It was his 17th RBI of the season.

"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Newfoundland manager Dan Danielson. "It's usually not just one thing."
