Krakens Lose to Shadows, 8-5
|
The Umbriel Shadows beat the Keiper Krakens, 8-5, at Shadows Stadium. The win was due in part to center fielder Fu-Kang Qu, who went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Sharif Najeeb picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Qing-hua Ou suffered the loss. Gregory McLean earned the save, his 3rd.
Griff Carney had a big 3-run home run for the Shadows in the bottom of the first inning. With Umbriel trailing 3-1 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he sized up a fastball from 22-year old left-handed pitcher Qing-hua Ou and punished it. The result was his 16th home run of the season, which put the Shadows on top, 4-3.
"You win some, you lose some. I don't get too caught up in all that," said Carney.
The Shadows go to 16-35 with the win.
