Mafia 5-4 Winners Versus Lisbon
|
With first baseman Zaccaria Cartellieri leading the charge, the Sicily Mafia defeated the Lisbon Seafarers, 5-4, at Mussolini Municipal Park. Cartellieri, who is tied for 5th in the TOBA in hits with 82, was 4 for 4 with a double, 3 singles, and a walk. Alexis Petito got the win, improving to 6-6. He worked 6.2 innings, giving up 2 runs on 8 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 4. Today's win puts Sicily at 25-42, while Lisbon falls to 35-32.
The Mafia got a big at-bat from third baseman Donato Marciano. For the game, Marciano was 1-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 7th home run of the season gave Sicily a 3-0 lead.
