Shadows Pull Out Late-Game Win, 8-7
|
The New York Nebula got a sterling performance from designated hitter Yin-tou Ling, but the Umbriel Shadows still prevailed, 8-7. Ling went 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Umbriel reliever Wazir Afeef picked up the win to move to 1-1. Cameron Crawford suffered the loss. Earning his 5th save for Umbriel was Gregory McLean.
Umbriel used the timely hitting of Joe Maoz to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Shadows on top, 6-5. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We got the victory," said Maoz. "That's all that matters at the end of the day."
The victory makes Umbriel 18-40.
