The Sicily Mafia powered past the Los Angeles Stars, 9-8, at Mussolini Municipal Park. Tiberio Bagio provided some of the pop. The Bear was 1-2 with a home run and 2 walks. Valentin Covi, who finished 5th in the TOBA in on-base percentage with .389 in 1952, helped out the Sicily cause in the bottom of the first inning with a 2-run single. For the game, the center fielder went 1 for 3 with a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.

Mafia manager Dan Danielson wasn't all too pleased, despite the win, telling reporters that the performance highlighted some clear areas for improvement moving forward. He refused to be more specific, however. "I'm not gonna publicize our weaknesses," he said. "That stuff stays in the clubhouse."
