Seafarers Win, 5-4, at Berlin
|
The Lisbon Seafarers topped the Berlin Bears, 5-4, in Trans-Oceanic Baseball Association action at Bears Fields. The standout performance belonged to Lisbon pitcher and Halls Crossroads, Tennessee, native Aaron Williams. In 7.1 innings, Williams surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 3. He allowed 4 runs. Elliot Martin was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 2 of 2 save opportunities.
Roger Guillet had a big 2-run home run for the Seafarers in the top of the sixth inning. With Lisbon leading 3-1 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a slider from Chris Boyd, who is tied for 9th in the TOBA with a 5.4 K/9 rate, and punished it. The result was his 11th home run of the season, which put the Seafarers on top, 5-1.
Lisbon manager Dan Danielson commended his team for delivering "maximum effort."
The win puts Lisbon at 32-30 this season.
