Bears Win 2-1 Walk-Off
|
The Berlin Bears in 13 innings beat the Newfoundland Labradors, 2-1, at Bears Fields. Starting pitcher Lakew Odoyo was a major factor, holding his opponents in check all game. Berlin reliever Gavrilo Ckrebic picked up the win to move to 3-0. Jay Bell suffered the loss. Berlin, with the win, climbs to 22-42.
The decisive blow was delivered by Jasa Sljivancanin in the bottom of the 13th when he hit a run-scoring double off 30-year old left-handed pitcher Oscar Ramirez to win the game for Berlin. The home crowd went nuts.
Sljivancanin told the Berlin Times: "I was born for the big stage."
