Umbriel Shadows pitcher Matt Whitson was in fine form, leading his team past the Sedna Supernovas, 2-0. Whitson got the win, improving to 5-6. He gave up 6 hits and walked 3 over 8 innings. He allowed no runs. The win gives the Shadows a record of 20-45.
The Shadows got a big at-bat from catcher Omar Arechiga. For the game, Arechiga went 1 for 3 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the second, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 6th home run of the season gave Umbriel a 2-0 lead.
"It's a mindset," said Whitson. "Just trying to do your job, trying to be consistent."
