Monsters Win, 7-3, Versus Los Angeles
|
The Mobile Monsters beat the Los Angeles Stars, 7-3, at Stars Stadium. The Monsters got a fine performance from shortstop Steven Wright, who was 3-5 with a triple and a double, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once. Scott Bradburn was the winner in relief. His record is now 3-0. The losing pitcher was Rich Lutz. Los Angeles falls to 3-6.
Wright had a game-changing triple in the top of the ninth. On a 2-2 fastball from Rich Lutz, he banged a bases-clearing triple to left-center, giving the Monsters a 6-3 lead. It was the 1st triple of the year for Wright.
"I just try to go out and give it 100 percent every game," Wright told a local reporter after the game. "That's my mantra, and like today, it will pay off more often than not."
