Krakens Use Late Score to Top 99ers, 8-7
|
A good performance from third baseman Toyokazu Takahashi helped the Keiper Krakens defeat the Tokyo 99ers, 8-7. Takahashi was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2 for the Krakens. Gus Rodriguez picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 4-1. Kele Puleitu suffered the loss. David Grullon closed it out for Keiper, earning his 20th save.
An inflection point occurred with one out in the bottom of the eighth. That's when Krakens shortstop Pierre Delahaye hit a fastball from Kele Puleitu for a 2-run single. Just like that, Keiper was up, 8-7.
"First place," said Krakens manager Richard Stryker. "This is right where we want to be."
The Prograde Division-leading Krakens have a record of 45-22.
