Anglers Hammered by Bradbury, Drop Game 1 to Stars
With designated hitter Greg Bradbury leading the charge, the Los Angeles Stars got a road win over the Providence Anglers, 9-5, in Game 1 of the Wildcard Playoff. Bradbury hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice at The Pond to help Los Angeles take a 1-0 lead in the best-of-3 series.

Daniel Martin, who signed a 5-year contract worth $125,000 on 11/08/1953, helped out the Los Angeles cause in the top of the third inning with a 2-run single. For the game, the first baseman went 3 for 5 with 3 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once.

"I'm not out there for personal accomplishments," Bradbury told a Los Angeles Bulletin reporter after the game. "I'm out there to help the team win, and that's what we did today."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at The Pond in Providence.
