The Io Isotopes locked up a win at Ceres Stadium, knocking off the Ceres Asteroids, 5-4. On the mound for Io was left-hander Matsuichi Fujimoto. He played a major role in the triumph. Io now has a record of 43-37 with the win.

Bill Smith came through with a big-time hit for Io. The second baseman smacked a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 5-4. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Fujimoto told the Io Bulletin.
