Seafarers Sneak By Anglers, 4-3
|
The Providence Anglers inaugurated their 1955 season with a tough 4-3 loss to the Lisbon Seafarers at The Pond. Starting Pitcher Brian Robb had perhaps the best performance for Lisbon.
Lisbon needed the clutch hitting of Bjorn Nijland to seal the deal. The second baseman swatted a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Seafarers on top, 4-3. For the game, Nijland had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"We were the better team," crowed Nijland.
