Newman Helps Iceland Cruise to 10-3 Win
The Iceland Aurora topped the New York Skyliners, 10-3, with first baseman Trace Newman playing a big role. Newman was 3 for 5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4 for the Aurora in the win. Robert Holbert was the winner. He's now 1-0. The loser was 13-year veteran Jessy Kok. The loss drops New York to 7-6.

With Iceland leading 2-1 in the top of the fourth, Newman hit a sinker from Jessy Kok for a 2-run home run. It was his 4th home run of the season and put the Aurora ahead, 4-1.

In postgame comments to the Iceland Chronicle, Newman said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
