In a tight contest between the Paris Lions and the Providence Anglers, Iiro Mikkola was the determining factor. The Paris right-hander sparkled in his team's 3-0 win. The winner was Mikkola. He threw 7.2 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Seon-jong Kim. William Kelly recorded the save for Paris, his 3rd of the season.
The Lions had to work out of trouble in the top of the eighth. The score was 2-0, Paris, with one out. Providence, with a runner on 2nd, was mounting a threat. Wei-hong Shao dug in at the plate, but on a 2-2 sinker, he popped out.
The Anglers, now 5-9, continue their slow start.
