New York Earns 5-4 Win
|
The New York Skyliners picked up a win at Skyliners Stadium, knocking off the Mobile Monsters, 5-4. Starting pitcher Chris Ellis played a key role in the triumph. Ellis, now 1-2, was the winner. In 8.2 innings, he gave up 9 hits, while striking out 5, walking 2, and allowing 4 runs. Picking up the save was 31-year old right-handed pitcher Ruben Guerrero.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the eighth, with the game tied, Noah McMillan was at the plate when New York scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Skyliners to go in front, 5-4.
"We had situations where we should have got some runs in, but we didn't get the runs in," said losing manager Dan Danielson.
With the win, New York has a record of 8-9. Mobile falls to 9-8.
