Anglers Win at Home, 4-2
|
The Pond was the site of a competitive game between the Mobile Monsters and Providence Anglers.
Despite a great performance by Mobile left fielder Randall Quero, the Providence Anglers defeated the Monsters by the score of 4-2 at The Pond. Quero was 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Oscar Martel got the win, improving to 1-0. He pitched 7 innings, giving up 9 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 7 and walking 3.
Pavle Uskokovic had a big 2-run double for the Anglers in the bottom of the first inning. With Providence leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a changeup from Joel Soucy, who finished 5th in the TOBA in wins with 10 last year, and swatted a double to right. It was his 1st double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Anglers ahead, 3-0.
Providence manager Dan Danielson said his team played a "no nonsense" game.
The loss puts Mobile at 1-1.
