Bond Hits Two Homers in 11-5 Win for Mobile
|
Mobile left fielder Owen Bond helped his team beat the Sicily Mafia, 11-5. Bond, who is tied for 5th in the TOBA with a .447 on-base percentage, went 2 for 4 for the Monsters. Oscar Martel, who is tied for 8th in the TOBA in complete games with 1, was the winning pitcher. Over 6.1 innings, he allowed 5 runs on 7 hits, with 6 walks and 2 strikeouts. Jim Harrold nailed down the save.
Jon Olson had a big 2-run triple for the Monsters in the bottom of the second inning. With Mobile leading 2-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a sinker from Ceasario DeSanctis, who is tied for 10th in the TOBA in quality starts with 3, and swatted a triple to right-center. It was his 1st triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Monsters ahead, 4-0.
"Every time I go up there, I try and hit a ball hard," said Bond.
With the win, the Monsters have a record of 12-9.
