Lisbon Wins, Topping Providence, 4-2
|
The Lisbon Seafarers got a stellar effort from pitcher Griff Murphy, helping Lisbon score a win over the visiting Providence Anglers, 4-2. The save was credited to Elliot Martin, his 2nd. Lisbon is now 14-10, while Providence is 10-14.
Sander Punter had a big 2-run home run for the Seafarers in the bottom of the first inning. With Lisbon leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he sized up a changeup from Oscar Martel, who finished 5th in the TOBA in innings pitched with 165.1 in 1953, and punished it. The result was his 3rd home run of the season, which put the Seafarers on top, 3-0.
"It's nice to get the results when you're feeling good and throwing the ball well," said Murphy after the game.
