Seafarers Hand Sicily 3-1 Loss
|
The Lisbon Seafarers topped the Sicily Mafia, 3-1, in Trans-Oceanic Baseball Association action at Mussolini Municipal Park. The standout performance belonged to Lisbon pitcher and St. Petersburg, Russia, native Fjodor Semchenko. Semchenko picked up the win for Lisbon, going 6.1 innings. He gave up 1 run on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 1-3. Ambrosius Schwartz earned the save, his 1st, for the Seafarers.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Kazu Nakanishi? The Lisbon third baseman had a run-scoring double in the top of the first inning to put the Seafarers on top, 1-0. For the game, Nakanishi had 2 doubles and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"Fjodor pounded the strike zone and made good pitches when he needed to," said Lisbon manager Dan Danielson.
The win elevated the Seafarers to 13-12.
