Morantes 5-for-6 for Innoshima Sunday, May 17th , 1953 It was a sensational day at the plate for Ruben Morantes as he led the charge to a nifty 12-6 win over the Trawlers. The Innoshima shortstop was pure misery for the Itsukushima pitching staff. He left them shell-shocked with 5 hits in 6 at-bats in an explosive display of hitting. "Morantes put the ball into play and he really hit it hard," said , manager for the Trawlers, after the game. "When you do that, you've got a good chance to do some damage. And that's what happened. I feel like we threw some good pitches, but he just put some good swings on the ball." Ruben Morantes singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th and grounded out in the 8th. Morantes is batting .333 with 2 home runs and 9 RBIs this season. |
