Torres Sets Home Run Record with 12 Monday, June 8th , 1953 What a season to remember! Today Juan Torres established a new league mark for home runs in a season with 12. Talking to reporters after the record-breaking game at Team Fields, Torres commented, "Wow! 12! That's a lot of homers! 12 homers in a season! I have just beaten the season record of Roger Landeros. Can you believe it? Now that was great ballplayer. I'm not as good as he was. He was one of the all-time greats. I don't put myself in his class, but it will be nice to have my name in the record book." Juan Torres homered off Platon Polymeropoulos in the 1st. So far this season, Torres is batting .316 with 12 home runs, 34 RBIs and 27 runs scored. He has 36 hits in 114 at-bats, 19 walks and a .415 OBP. Torres has played in 29 games. |
