Boomers End Herrera Streak Monday, June 20th , 1955 Sergio Herrera, third baseman for the Onomichi Fishers, gave it a good try, but his time chasing history came to an end when he went hitless in 3 tries against the Innoshima Boomers. Not only did the Boomers break his 0-game hitting streak, they also beat Onomichi by the score of 3-2. "Now that the streak has ended, I can admit I'll breathe a bit easier the next time I step up to bat," Herrera said, speaking with the media after the game. "It was tough because I put a little pressure on myself. Now that it's over, I will definitely be a little bit looser at the plate." Herrera's current batting average stands at .362 and he has chalked up 9 home runs and 37 RBIs. |
