Grumond Slams 5 Hits for Kure Monday, May 5th , 1952 Leon Grumond was the King of Swing at Team Park in the 22-11 Kure Mariners win over the Matsuyama Farmers. The Kure first baseman stepped into the batter's box 5 times against Matsuyama and delivered 5 hits. It was a sensational game for him. "Unbelievable feeling," he told the press. "It felt good. 5-for-5 isn't bad for your batting average either." Leon Grumond hit an RBI single in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th and doubled in the 6th. |
