Hit Parade: Maldonado Gets Cycle Saturday, August 8th , 1953 It was a quite a day for Mario Maldonado at Aurora Field. He hit for the cycle, belting out every kind of hit there is -- a single, double, triple and home run. The New York second baseman accomplished the rare feat during his team's 11-5 victory over the Iceland Aurora. "I never even thought about hitting for the cycle and what do you know, I did it," he told BNN reporters at the postgame press conference. "The cycle really doesn't matter to me, it's the win that's important." Maldonado went 4-for-6 in the game with 2 RBI and 4 runs scored. Mario Maldonado tripled in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off John Hahn in the 3rd, grounded out in the 4th, doubled in the 6th, grounded out in the 8th and hit an RBI single in the 9th.
