Los Angeles's Walker Elbows His Way to TOBA Award Tuesday, September 20th , 1955 The Los Angeles Stars have a rising superstar or maybe even a budding Hall-of-Famer in the making. It's Chris Walker, this year's Trans-Oceanic Baseball Association Pitcher of the Year Award selection. This blossoming hurler wowed fans, peers and sportswriters with a fabulous performance. Walker compiled a 12-9 record in 24 starts, tallied 118 strikeouts in 193.2 innings and recorded a 2.93 ERA. Other clubs managed only a .230 batting average against him. He received 5 first place votes out of a possible 8. Ken Roberts of the Iceland Aurora finished second in voting with 3 first place votes, while Jessy Kok of the New York Skyliners finished third.
