TOBA Presents Top Pitcher Trophy Monday, September 21st , 1953 The Iceland Aurora have a rising superstar or maybe even a budding Hall-of-Famer in the making. It's Ken Roberts, this year's Trans-Oceanic Baseball Association Pitcher of the Year Award selection. This blossoming hurler wowed fans, peers and sportswriters with a fabulous performance. Roberts compiled a 18-4 record in 24 starts, tallied 115 strikeouts in 181.2 innings and recorded a 2.58 ERA. Other clubs managed only a .223 batting average against him. He received 8 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Brian Robb of the Lisbon Seafarers finished second in voting, while Mounir Soulier of the Providence Anglers finished third.
