Ulrych Mows Down Rijeka, 1-0 Tuesday, June 9th , 1953 Gideon Ulrych was dynamite at Kernels Park, blowing away the Rijeka Sailors in a shutout victory. The Maribor Rivermen starter had everything working as he held the Sailors to 2 hits in the 1-0 win. "He was pure nasty out there today," said Rijeka skipper . "I don't think any team in the league would've had a chance against what he was bringing." Ulrych finished the game with 7 strikeouts and 4 walks.
