Wild Horses, Panic Blank Maribor, 14-0 Thursday, June 18th , 1953 The Maribor Rivermen manager was philosophical in the clubhouse following a shutout loss to the Skopje Wild Horses. The Rivermen were overpowered by Skopje starter Veljko Panic, who hurled his club to victory, 14-0. "It was just one of those games -- shake it off and do better next time," said. Over 9 innings, Panic blanked Maribor on 2 hits with 3 walks and 3 strikeouts. "I kept them off balance. I could tell a lot of them were late on fastballs because they were fouling them off. Once you see that, it sets them up for other pitches," Panic said. "I set them up, where if they chased one breaking ball, they were going to chase another one." This season, Panic has worked 47.2 innings with 13 strikeouts en route to a 3-3 record and a 3.97 ERA. View Boxscore |
