Red-Hot Rijeka Rookie Rated YB's Best Wednesday, July 1st , 1953 They are celebrating in Rijeka today for two reasons -- pitcher Hashim Topalli finished a great month with a 3-1 mark and also received the Rookie of the Month award from the Yugoball. In 5 starts he hurled 35.2 innings, allowed 34 base hits, struck out 15, walked 10, and compiled a fine 2.27 ERA. Teams combined to hit .256 against him in June. Topalli has made 11 starts so far this year and put up a 6-2 won-lost record with a 2.25 ERA. In 76 innings he has allowed 72 hits, walked 23 and struck out 30. |
