Morgan Bashes 3 HR for Mexico City Friday, July 30th , 1999 Players don't hit three home runs in a game very often and when they do, it is something to celebrate. After today, Robby Morgan can celebrate. The Mexico City Meteors left fielder powered three into the stands at Venus Stadium against the Venus Voyagers. "It's rare that you actually try to hit a home run," Morgan told reporters after the game. "Most of the time you fail, if you really try to hit one. But today, I was really trying on that last one." In all, he was 3-for-6 as the Meteors toppled Venus by a score of 13-5, knocking in 6 runs and scoring 3 times. "He is blessed with a natural home run swing," Mexico City manager said. "He gets the ball up in the air." Robby Morgan hit a two-run home run off Yami Gogo in the 1st, flied out in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off Gula Othiambo in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off Tony Molina in the 6th, grounded out in the 7th and flied out in the 9th. This season, Morgan has posted a batting average of .237 with 53 hits in 224 at-bats, 14 home runs and 36 RBIs. He has also scored 34 runs, walked 27 times and compiled a .319 OBP. |
