Valdez Blanks Berlin D, 7-0 Saturday, June 21st , 1958 Goose eggs were the order of the day for the Berlin D Black Bears as starter Jon Valdez shut them out, 7-0, at Black Bears Grove. The New York D pitcher struck out 6 and walked 4 while allowing 4 hits. "Valdez was good but he wasn't flawless," Berlin D manager said. "We had a few opportunities to make something happen and we didn't do it. Not to take anything away from New York D, but this is on us." |
