5-Hit Game for Woods Tuesday, July 8th , 1958 John Woods exploded for a barrage of base hits at Dalmatians Fields. The Los Angeles D first baseman had a field day in his team's 12-2 triumph over the Newfoundland D Dalmatians, finishing 5-for-6. "My hitting philosophy is simple," he said. "I focus on just seeing the ball and I try to get a good pitch." Woods must have focused at least 5 times and apparently got some good pitches, too, leading to one of his best days ever with the bat. John Woods doubled in the 1st, struck out in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th. Looking at his stats this year, Woods has compiled a .435 batting average, while hitting 4 home runs and driving in 17 runs. He has played in 23 games and scored 13 runs. |
