Hernandez Shackles Sicily D Saturday, July 12th , 1958 It wasn't easy but the Los Angeles D Kodiaks made it look that way. Starter Lorenzo Hernandez shut out the Sicily D Red Wings despite having what he later called "sub-par" stuff, and the Los Angeles D Kodiaks cruised to victory, 3-0. Hernandez allowed only 3 hits and rang up 11 strikeouts but insisted later that he did not deserve primary credit for the win. "It didn't feel quite right today, but I got a lot of help to get through," he said. "I trusted my catcher and the guys behind me bailed me out more than once when I screwed up." Hernandez has fashioned a 5-0 mark for the season, 1.96 ERA and thrown 55 innings in 7 starts. Opposing clubs are batting .217 against him. |
