Knapp Bangs Out 5 Base Hits Tuesday, July 12th , 1955 At Jazz Park, Oswald Knapp of the Lisbon Jazz put on a hitting clinic. He banged out 5 hits in 7 at-bats and mauled the Paris D Steelheads pitching staff, but Lisbon still came up short on the scoreboard. The Jazz went home with the 14-10 loss, in spite of a standout 5-hit performance from their right fielder. "Hey, it's great to get that many hits in a game, but it would have been nice to win the game, too," Knapp said in the postgame interview. Oswald Knapp walked in the 1st, struck out in the 3rd, walked in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Ricky Cervantes in the 7th, hit an RBI single in the 8th, struck out in the 10th, singled in the 13th, singled in the 15th, walked in the 17th and doubled in the 19th. This season, Knapp is batting .349 with 4 home runs. His totals include 6 RBIs and 9 runs scored. |
