Haas Hits 3 Homers Against Paris D
Sunday, September 20th , 1953
The old superstition that "bad news comes in threes" certainly came true for the Paris D Steelheads.
Sicily D center fielder Bjorn Haas tripled up on the home runs to propel the Red Wings to a win, 8-7, at Red Wings Grove.
"We had our chances to win the game, but we just didn't come through," Paris D manager said. "Haas hit the heck out of the ball."
In addition to the homers, Haas collected 4 hits in 4 at-bats, 5 RBIs and scored 3 runs.
"Easy swings get you home runs," he said after the game. "I kept telling myself not to press. They have to be nice and easy swings."
Bjorn Haas hit a two-run home run off Joe Bingley in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Jim Mutz in the 5th and hit a solo-shot off Jim Mutz in the 7th.
This season, Haas is batting .323 with 3 home runs.
