Lumineers End Ladner Streak Wednesday, July 14th , 1999 Terry Ladner, center fielder for the Mexico City Meteors, gave it a good try, but his time chasing history came to an end when he went hitless in 4 tries against the Luna Lumineers. Not only did the Lumineers break his 22-game hitting streak, they also beat Mexico City by the score of 4-2. "Now that the streak has ended, I can admit I'll breathe a bit easier the next time I step up to bat," Ladner said, speaking with the media after the game. "It was tough because I put a little pressure on myself. Now that it's over, I will definitely be a little bit looser at the plate." Thus far this year, Ladner has hit .317 with 15 home runs and 36 RBIs. |
