Yap Booms 3 Homers Sunday, July 18th , 1999 Sometimes it just isn't enough. Zhu-lan Yap had an outstanding day at Dynamos Park for the Europa Mudraptors, ripping three home runs. Nonetheless, the Mudraptors fell to the Dione Dynamos, 13-12. Yap had a feast at the plate, pounding everything thrown his way. The 22-year-old shortstop banged out 3 hits in 6 at-bats, scored 3 times and batted in 6 runs. Despite his sensational performance, the Mudraptors were not able to hold off the Dynamos. "Baseball is a funny game," Yap said in the post-game interview, "You can't dwell on the reasons for the loss. I'm sure there will be days when I go 0-for-4 and we win. These things tend to even out." Zhu-lan Yap grounded out in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off Toshimasa Bando in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Mitsuru Ryu in the 4th, flied out in the 6th, hit a two-run home run off Josh Raley in the 8th and struck out in the 9th. In this current campaign Yap is hitting at a .270 clip with 22 home runs and 42 RBIs. |
