Garcia Named Top Reliever for TJUCO Saturday, May 7th , 1955 Pedro Garcia said he thinks hitters often underestimate him, as he's only 19 years old. But he'll certainly be getting a lot more respect now, as the Rome Community College All-Stars rising star has won the TOBA Junior College Reliever of the Year Award for 1955. He captured the award on the strength of his 2.48 ERA over 32.2 innings. He also had 8 saves in 25 relief appearances, 14 strikeouts and only 11 walks. He received 8 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Mike Stevenson of the Fresno Community College Big Stick finished second in voting, while Danny Rangel of the Buffalo Junior College Warhawks finished third.
