Allen Selected TJUCO's Best Player
Tuesday, May 10th , 1955
He may have less experience than most of his TOBA Junior College peers, but that didn't slow Eric Allen down at all in 1955.
At the age of 19, the Paris Agricultural College first baseman has been named the winner of the TOBA Junior College Most Valuable Player Award.
He had a .364 batting average and a .505 on-base percentage this year. In 43 games he piled up 56 hits, 11 doubles, no triples, 12 home runs, 37 RBIs and 33 runs scored.
"I'm blown away by the season I was able to put together," he said. "I'm looking forward to trying to do it all again next year."
He received 8 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Casey Arnold of the Washington Technical College Giants finished second in voting, while Carlos Sanchez of the Fresno Community College Big Stick finished third.
